Primates

Primates

Ring-tailed lemurs, capuchins and a lively troop of macaques.

The Primates section is built for watching natural behaviour. Our ring-tailed lemurs live in a walk-through enclosure, so you follow a fenced path while they sunbathe, leap between platforms and forage a few feet away. Next door, the capuchins and macaques have tall climbing frames, ropes and puzzle feeders that keepers change through the week to keep them curious. It is one of the noisiest, busiest parts of the park, and a favourite with younger visitors.

What you'll see

  • Walk-through ring-tailed lemur enclosure
  • Brown capuchins with rotating puzzle feeders
  • A troop of macaques on the tall climbing frames
  • Daily keeper talk on how the troops live together

Good to know

  • Keep to the marked path in the lemur walk-through and do not touch or feed the animals.
  • Mornings are the liveliest time in the primate house.

Questions about primates

Can I walk among the lemurs?

Yes. The ring-tailed lemurs live in a walk-through enclosure with a marked path. Stay on the path and let the animals come and go as they please.

Are the primates indoors or outdoors?

They have both indoor dens and outdoor enclosures and move between them freely, so you can usually see them whatever the weather.
